Global charity Qhubeka shows 2019-2020 results with real impact on children’s lives in Africa.

Qhubeka is a global charity with a mission to move people in Africa forward with bicycles. By giving bikes to South-African children, they offer them mobility and safety in their daily travels to schools, clinics and jobs.

Qhubeka’s vision is also supported by NTT Pro Cycling, a cycling team that Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise supports with technology that helps optimise performance and keep the team connected.

The Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise team raises funds for Qhubeka that the company then matches dollar for dollar. These fund-raising events are promoted on special days, like the ALE Value Days.

In 2019-2020, Qhubeka achieved excellent results:

  • In October 2019, they delivered 100,000 bikes to 27 schools in Africa
  • In 2020, their top 10 schools achieved a pass rate of 93%, a 7% increase from 2019
  • They reduced travel time to school by over three times

These positive results show how much of an impact Qhubeka has on children and their future. Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise is very proud to support this worthy cause and will further aid the movement by delivering technology that helps people connect in every way.
